For me, there is something nostalgic (and even motivational) about wearing a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans. The same denim the cool kids wore back in high school, circa 2000.

The “in” crowd was something I never aspired to. Yet, I’ll admit, my popular classmates were convincing when it came to 7 jeans, one of the only times in my life I was pulled head over heels into a trend. And as a teen I developed a burning desire to own a pair. I always admired the fit and the pockets—those perfectly designed A pockets!!

It wasn’t until I started my career as a professional musician that I had the means to finally purchase a pair. I joyously splurged on them the moment I received my first real pay check in 2006. It was a rush to be able to buy them for myself after 10 years of intense work/practice. And I wore them, so much so that I completely frayed the hems and wore out the knees. I never threw them away though, because I know when I'm rummaging through that old box of clothes I'll find them and remember how distant they seemed at one time, a physical reminder of the idea that if you want something, you make it happen.

You could imagine the smile on my face when 7FAM contacted me this summer and told me they admire my style & blog and would love to see how I would style some pieces from their latest collection. I can’t say that it didn’t mean something much bigger than they could imagine, to me.
